A brief history of the team
« on: 09 July, 2016, 07:14:00 PM »
Trying to write a brief history of the team but I sure don't know the early days as well as some around here so this is a work in progress and feel free to add some input.
 I know some of us as individuals crunched using the United Drug app before WCG started back in 2004.
The team started with Seti, D2OL and Folding@home back in 2002. Later, the Rosetta project was added and we quickly advanced up the rankings by virtue of our esteemed, now retired member DDTung (Victor) and his computing farm. However, after being wrongly accused of cheating, the team left the project after 6 months and joined WCG, where we've been active ever since, reaching the #1 spot in 2007. Since then, Universities & big institutions have taken the top spot. We have also branched out into other DC projects, most notably GPUgrid & Einstein@home. A top team needs a respected and knowledgeable leader and we were fortunate to have Dave Hunt aka Movieman in the team right from the start until recently, when he succumbed to the big C. Despite the introduction of crunching for coins, their is still a strong community spirit in the crunching world where friends are more important than money and none more so than here. Thank you for reading.

You forgot D2OL, the first project i crunched for XS.  Prior to Rosetta and WCG D2OL was XS's main project. (Good ol Rodzilla threatening to kill cats if you stopped crunching) )()
I was there when we made the move from D2OL to Rosetta because D2OL was ending.
Rosetta was not on BOINC at that time.

I've also joined the team in 2007. I was off the grid in 2008-2015 due to my financial issues, so I've missed a lot of team's activities.
The only thing I can remember was the team was aiming at Easynews just about almost everyday :)

I started it out with a couple of Pentium D and a T7200 laptop. Then got caught in the wave of Q6600s :)
I had 12 Q6600s and 2 xeon X3350s at one points. My breaker could not handle the load.
I still have the portable AC I bought just to cool the computer room because the central unit in my apartment could not keep up with the heat.
It's somewhere in my garage lol .. wonder if it's still working.

Found it   -&&
